The fair organisers of ITMA ASIA + CITME 2022 announced that the combined exhibition will be held from 19 to 23 November 2023 at the National Exhibition and Convention Centre (NECC), Shanghai.

ITMA ASIA + CITME 2022 has been rescheduled to November 2023 due to the uncertain pandemic situation in China.

Show owners CEMATEX and Chinese partners, the Sub-Council of the Textile Industry, CCPIT (CCPIT-Tex), China Textile Machinery Association (CTMA) and China Exhibition Centre Group Corporation (CIEC) informed that the new exhibition dates will be announced soon. The leaders of CTMA  and CEMATEX have decided to postpone the exhibition to allow greater participation at the most important textile machinery exhibition in Asia.

ITMA ASIA + CITME 2022 is organised by Beijing Textile Machinery International Exhibition Co., Ltd and co-organised by ITMA Services. Japan Textile Machinery Association is a special partner of the show.

Originally scheduled to take place from 20 to 24 November 2022, the 2023 exhibition will continue to be held at the National Exhibition and Convention Centre (NECC).

The India International Textile Machinery Society Expo (ITME) will be held in India Exposition Mart Ltd, Noida from 7 to 11 December 2022. The total number of halls will be 15 with a total area of 2,35,000 sq mtrs, making it the largest in this industry sector.

This event is expected to host more than 1800 exhibitors in 22 Chapters and is expected to have over 1,50,000 visitors.

This international exhibition takes place every four years in India and plays a central role in developing India as a textile engineering destination, to boost investment in the textile  machinery manufactory and promote the textile industry of this country.

The textile industry in India: a business overview

The textile industry in India is one of the oldest in the country and plays a central role inside the growing economy of this large country. With hand-woven, hand-spun, and various mills, the textile sector is extremely varied. Since it is one of the biggest sectors, the industry has about 4.5 crore employed workers which also includes 35.22 lakh handloom workers all across the nation.

There are several materials and raw materials that are exported from India to the other parts of the world and between April-December 2021, it stood at US$ 29.8 billion. This market is actually expected to be worth more than US$ 209 billion by 2029.

For the last 4,000 years, India has been known for its textile industries. Even though the textile industry in India declined steeply during the colonial regime, it regained its charm again in the early nineteenth century.

The first textile mill was established in Calcutta in 1818; however, the real deal happened in Bombay when the first cotton textile mill was established after 36 years.

An immediate growth in the textile industry was observed during the second half of the nineteenth century. By the end of the 1900s, 178 textile mills were operating in the country. Unfortunately, due to a large famine, several mills were shut down for a long period during the early twentieth century.
