Textape roll coverings are designed to improve the performance of looms and finishing machines. To be even more specific, Textape products are items that must be applied to the rolls of these large machines. As you may know, every textile machinery has particular needs: there are those with hydraulic functioning, those in which 100° C is reached, those that reach 120 °C, etc…And, since our goal is to meet the needs of all textile manufacturers, at Textape, we make a wide range of products, each designed to solve a specific problem.

Our products are unique, so we think it’s useful for customers to learn the technical details of each of them. Thus, we decided to dedicate a few blog posts to this topic. Here we’ll focus on some of our nitrile synthetic rubber roll coverings. Below, more specifically, we’ll explain the differences between medium-fine rubber + PVC, medium granulated rubber + PVC, cork, and synthetic E.P.D.M. expanded.

Medium-fine and medium granulated rubbers + PVC

Let’s start with medium – fine and medium granulated rubber + PVC products. As you can see by jumping through our catalog, here at Textape, we create 6 different kinds. What changes is not only the thickness or the texture but even the machinery they are intended for and the degree of heat they can withstand. What are the characteristics those rubber + PVC items have in common? To begin with, all of them are oil resistant. Second, all the roll coverings listed here have a self-adhesive version too.

A note before you start reading. We wanted to organize this article by support type or by heat resistance. However, we could have confused you. So we decided to list our products in the same order as we use for our catalog. And we have also included the code for each piece to make it even easier.

Medium – fine rubber + PVC code 124

Let’s start with an ultra-thin product (its thickness is only 1.8 mm). With a 100% polyester support, this one is probably one of the most peculiar items. This rubber roll covering, in fact, is designed for water-jet weaving looms and can withstand up to 100°C. Another positive aspect of this product? It’s suitable for any type of fabric, regardless of its weight and material. Moreover, the medium-fine rubber + PVC 124 product guarantees good adhesion to your machinery.

Medium-fine rubber + PVC (code 128)

Thicker than the former (the product thickness is 2 mm), it features a cotton and polyester support. These two features combined make the product able to withstand even higher temperatures. In particular, the medium-fine rubber + PVC code 128 item guarantees high performance even at 120 °C. In addition, this roll covering can be applied to any kind of loom. What are the characteristics this product shares with the previous one? This roller covering is perfect for any type of fabric and can be used on your machinery regardless of whether you make technical textiles or carpets. In addition, it has good adhesion and is resistant to oils, like all our rubber + PVC products.

Medium granulated rubber + PVC (code 130)

This roll covering is similar to the medium-fine rubber + PVC code 124 product. The similarities that immediately jump out at you are that both have a 100% polyester backing and are heat resistant (the maximum temperature supported is 100 °C). Again, like code 124, the medium granulated rubber code 130 product is suitable for all kinds of fabrics, whether impalpable silks or wool tweeds. And finally, both products adhere well to machines. What are the differences? To begin with, the thickness (the medium granulated rubber product measures 2.5 mm). And then roll covering 130 can be applied to any kind of loom, whether it is hydraulically operated or not.

Medium granulated rubber + PVC (code 132)

A product that stands out among the many roll coverings we create at Textape is the medium granulated rubber + PVC code 132. This item, in fact, is designed for raising machines and can only be applied to this kind of machinery. Code 132 is 2 mm thick, has a polyester support, and can withstand up to 100 °C. A feature that is particularly appreciated by our customers is that it has an even higher level of adhesion than the products we mentioned earlier. Finally, this item is suitable for any kind of fabric.

Medium-fine rubber + PVC (code 134)

This is one of our most durable rubber + PVC roll coverings. It’s 2.5 mm thick, features a polyester + cotton support, and guarantees maximum performance even at 120 °C. In addition, it has an excellent degree of adhesion and ensures a long service life. Ultimately, given its characteristics, we recommend it for the finishing of heavy-duty fabrics.

Medium-fine rubber + PVC (code 138)

Another piece we feel like suggesting for its durability is the medium-fine rubber + PVC code 138. This one is pretty thin ( it measures only 1.8 mm) but withstands heat well (the maximum supported temperature is 120 °C). It also adheres perfectly to the rollers of your machinery. We at Textape recommend using it for the finishing of medium-weight fabrics. In particular, we suggest the application on yarn twisting machines. Need info about the support? In this product, the base is made of polyester + cotton.

Synthetic E.P.D.M. expanded

It’s the thickets roll covering in this list (the item thickness is 3,5 mm). However, this product features other characteristics that make it stand out from the others. First and foremost, the support is self-adhesive, which ensures an excellent level of adhesion.

Second, the synthetic E.P.D.M. expanded is both strong and delicate at the same time. In fact, it does not withstand the heat that much (max temperature supported is 80 °C) and has a limited oil resistance. Its intended use? This roll is designed for laboratories. More specifically, we suggest using it to inspect lightweight fabrics.

Cork

We end our blog post with cork roll covering. This product is quite thick (thickness is 3 mm) and has no support. Its main feature? Cork roll covering is able to withstand very high temperatures (the maximum limit is 160 °C). For this reason, this item is perfect for finishing. In particular, we recommend it for treating elastic fabrics with printing machines. In addition, like all other products we presented, cork roll covering is oil resistant.
